I knew nothing about him or Lakeland until I read about it on the blog of the pastor of my church in York. In his post (http://themorningflight.com/index.php/2008/06/13/toronto-pensacola-lakeland/) he recognised that people were encountering God at Lakeland, but warned of the “flawed theology”. At the Christian Camp I attend each year, the bible studies during the first week this year were on angels and demons. Inevitably the issue of Todd Bentley came up, and I found out more about his teachings, particularly on angels. The pastor leading the bible study warned of the problems with Todd Bentley’s doctrine in this area, and discussed things like the role and the nature of angels in the bible.

I cannot help but think that more Christian leaders should have been warning people not to get carried away with the hype of Lakeland, given some of the questionable teachings. The Church must regain its focus on the person of Jesus Christ and stop looking up to the latest “great man of God”.

Sorry for writing in English on a French blog. My written and spoken French is pretty lousy nowadays.

Feel free to post in whatever language Tim, great to hear from you; of course many of the same articles are available on the english blog as well; http://www.bolaoged.com. Some amazing miracles did happen at Lakeland and it would seem that some leaders did speak privately with Todd, i heard a message from Rob de Luca, the man who initially prophesied the outpouring on speaking to him privately about some issues. The public protests unfortunately came from those who did not even believe that God was at work at all, the calvinist reformed bloggers went beserk on this, and some even called Todd a demon. So it was highly polarised, and the more’s the pity.
