First point to overcome crises: faith.

Life involves continual problem-solving. The apostle Paul gives us a shining example of one way we overcome crises: faith.

He is on his way to plead his case before Caesar and the ship he is traveling on is caught in a wild and destructive storm. Paul is in crisis, and he is at risk of dying. As a prisoner, he cannot decide to leave the ship; he is apparently at the mercy of his captors and the sailors. Yet he was not intimidated, quite the contrary.

Before setting out, he had discerned that the journey was likely to be difficult and that they would suffer heavy losses, not only of the ship's cargo, but also of their lives. Those in authority on the ship had ignored this. However, he was neither discouraged nor depressed.

As they were being hit hard by the storm, they began to jettison the cargo. On the third day, they threw the ship's equipment overboard with their own hands. That was how desperate they had become. For many days, neither the sun nor the stars were visible. So the violent storm continued to rage. Finally, all hope of being saved disappeared. This So what we see here is a situation of despair. Even the seasoned sailors had become desperate.

You may be in a storm!

You may be in a figurative storm. You may be in what we call the storms of life. And many people in the world today are in that situation with this terrible epidemic and this miserable virus who held the whole world hostage. Many people feel like they are in the middle of a storm and see no way out.

The Lord showed us that there would be a lot of trauma and that many people would become suicidal, depressed, and hopeless. It's as if they were locked up and there was no way out. But as God brought Paul out of the crisis, He will bring you out of it too.

Sometimes people lose hope because the people they trust don't have the solution. Many people are panicking right now. Why? Because they trusted scientists, doctors, and the government, who now have no idea what to do.

It's the seasoned sailors who should know what to do, but not only didn't they know what to do, they were afraid. We saw the fear in our leaders. We saw their confusion. We saw their inability to propose a measure that they thought would solve the problem. Even the measures they are currently proposing don't solve the problem.

The end of the lockdown in France did not reassure people. Parents were wondering whether to let their children return to school or whether they should return to work. The climate is one of uncertainty and confusion.

How did Paul demonstrate his faith in this crisis?

He rose above the storm and believed God. Paul stood up among them and reassured them that no one would die.

Why was he so confident? Why did he have that kind of faith?

He had instructions from God that they did not have. He had information from an angel that they were not aware of. Paul told them, “An angel of the God to whom I belong and whose servant I am came to speak to me. He told me what was going to happen. He told me that I would be safe. He gave me a message from God that said nothing would happen to me, and not only would nothing happen to me, but that He would preserve you for my sake.” Unlike Zechariah, who questioned the angel, Paul believed him.

How to have faith in the midst of a crisis?

God has spoken to each of us through His Word. Keep these promises. Sometimes He reminds us of these Scriptures so that we have something to stand on when things are not going as they should be. His Word already tells you your future. It tells you what God will do for you in situations of adversity and crisis.

And the answer we have to give as believers is not 'yes, but Lord, look what's happening, there's the virus.». We instead respond, "I believe it's not going to affect me. I refuse to be affected by this virus or whatever it is. So I'm going to overcome this crisis. I'm going to get through it and I'm going to fulfill my destiny."". This should be our confession.

Many people think that when we trust in the midst of a crisis, it's because we don't understand what's going on. No, it's because we have superior information. We have information that trumps the current information that comes from outside because this information comes from the heart of God.

Like Paul, you will overcome any crisis when you can say, “I believe God,” and stand firm.

A faith that defies current circumstances

God will often tell you the opposite of what the circumstances or crisis say. Choose to agree with God rather than the crisis. You see, faith is not for those times when things are easy.

• Faith goes against the current situation.
• Faith is standing in the face of something that denies your destination and insisting on crossing over and arriving at your destination.
• Faith is believing that God's purpose will be accomplished despite the current turmoil.
• Faith is saying " I believe God in the midst of a storm, even though it seems to never end ».
• Faith says “I will live” when the situation says you will die.
• Faith refuses to let the situation define our feelings, our opinions, and our words.
• Faith allows our thinking, our words, our feelings to be determined by what God has shown us in His Word.

I want to encourage you to trust God and stand firm in this current crisis. Believe that God will take care of you financially, that your business, which seems to be shaky right now, will survive and thrive.

Faith requires patience

The storm continued, and at one point, the sailors wanted to escape, and the soldiers wanted to kill the prisoners. Despite everything, Paul did not change his perspective. He remained convinced that they would be saved. He reiterated that not one of them would lose a hair from their head.
