It's unusual for me to review a message I've preached in its entirety, but I did it for this one. I did it because during my prayer times this week, the Holy Spirit kept bringing me back to the issue and to personal things about it. So I reviewed it, and what a blessing it was. These topics should occupy our hearts and attention.
Every Christian should know that in the kingdom of God and in God's affairs, there is a principle of rewards. Many people view God's work as a chore and not as an investment. We serve God out of gratitude and also out of responsibility. Jesus died for us so that we might live for Him. He saved us to do good works prepared in advance for us. And when He left this earth, He commissioned us to go and work for Him and bring the world to know Him.
It is the responsibility of every Christian to serve God; otherwise, we fail in our duty. It's simple. However, as the Apostle Paul so aptly told his son Timothy, we are grateful for the grace bestowed upon us, who were blasphemers, and are not only saved but also beneficiaries of a divine mandate to serve Him. Therefore, we serve Him out of gratitude. It is a privilege for us to serve. We are not worthy of it. God should reject people like us, consider us unqualified, but He has done the opposite.
Everyone has had the experience of going for an interview and being informed later that someone else was chosen, but our application was not accepted. While human beings take the liberty of disqualifying and rejecting you, God qualifies you. We must be grateful that He chose us to serve Him and simply that Jesus gave everything for us.
So God has the right to demand everything from us because without Him we would have nothing. But and this is an extraordinary thing, when we do what He asks of us, He rewards us.
He rewards us because what we do for Him is a demonstration of our love. Jesus, in His post-resurrection conversation with Peter, made it clear that loving Him means doing something for Him, shepherding His sheep. Doing something for the Lord is a demonstration of our love, our regard, our respect, and our obedience; and God blesses obedient people, but rebellious people dwell in a barren land.
And these rewards are immense. They are earthly but also heavenly. And this video is about heavenly blessings. Watch it, you won't regret it.
