“Shout to God, all you earth!” Sing praise to his name; glorify him with your praises. 3Say to God, “How awesome are your works! Because of the greatness of your power, your enemies flatter you. 4The whole earth worships you and sings praise to you; it sings praise to your name.” -Sep. 5Come and see the works of God! He is awesome in his work among the sons of men. 6He turned the sea into dry land; people passed through the river on foot; then we rejoiced in him. 7He rules forever by his power; his eyes watch over the nations; let not the rebellious exalt themselves. -Sep. 8Bless our God, O peoples; make his praise resound!”
The essential first topic of week 5 to 6 of this month is praise and thanksgiving. There is frankly plenty to be said for it. As we study Ephesians, we become aware of the greatness of what God has provided and accomplished for us IN CHRIST. The apostle Paul himself, when speaking of God's spiritual blessings, cannot help but bless Him; and in almost every statement of what God has done, He explains the purpose 'to celebrate His glory' 'to the praise of His glory'. And having grasped these things, our hearts overflow with thanksgiving and gratitude.
So the heart that sees God cannot but celebrate God and marvel at His 'glorious glory'. And so we begin this week 5 to 6.
Thank Him
- that he had chosen you in Christ to be holy and blameless before the foundation of the world
- for having adopted you in Christ
- for having redeemed you in Christ
- for having forgiven you in Christ
- for granting you His favor in Christ
- for giving you an inheritance in Christ
- for having sealed you with His Holy Spirit
- for His abundant generosity, His endless grace.
In recent times, everyone has experienced God's intervention in their lives again: let us show our gratitude; let us bless Him, honor Him, and make His praise resound.
So tomorrow morning at 5 o'clock, being mindful of your neighbors, let yourselves celebrate His glory with your praises.
Shalom!
