Another year has passed; healthy, strong, and on fire for God, I give Him all the glory. Birthdays are always an opportunity to reflect on how far we've come and to seek God's guidance for the year ahead. Today was no exception.
However, the most wonderful thing that happened to me that day occurred during my prayer time. God communicated two things to my heart about my life, two things in which He was pleased. Upon hearing the second, I burst into tears and wept like a child.
The whole world may approve of you, but when you feel God's smile, you feel as if infinite treasures have just been placed in your hands. You are aware that you have truly been seen, known, understood, and loved.
We must continually seek to know how God sees our lives. We often go astray by giving too much importance to the opinions of people who have not devoted even a minute to prayer for us; and who therefore have no idea what God wants for us. Moreover, these are usually people with very strong opinions. A person who does not lead you in prayer should not lead your life.
In my experience, I have often seen God take me down paths that have mystified many people. And when I failed to listen, I still obeyed, but in fear of making a mistake in front of all those who were convinced that I was heading towards a dead end. But when listening was there, it was in His strength that I went against the current.
Some of us are not called to travel the already constructed highways of life, but rather to blaze a trail through the uncharted forests and turn it into a fast lane for those behind us. Therefore, it becomes imperative that we hear a voice behind us saying, "This is the way to go, walk on it!" Otherwise, we find ourselves stuck in the company of slackers, stragglers, and other leisure drivers. This is not what you are called to do.
May the Lord speak to you, that you may know what He approves and flee from what He disapproves. Shalom!
