Why and how to adopt God's thought?

The thought of God is infinitely higher than ours. We can begin to take the measure of this by meditating on this passage from Isaiah

Isaiah 55:8-9 Segond 21 (SG21) ⁸ Indeed, your thoughts are not my thoughts and my ways are not your ways, declares the Lord. ⁹
The heavens are higher than the earth. So are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts higher than your thoughts. syour thoughts.

Think about it. There's a staggering distance between God's thoughts and our own. And we know that our thinking influences our lives, our words, our choices, our experiences, absolutely everything. Our human existence is subordinate to our thinking.

Why adopt God's thinking?

God, by His thought, is superior to anything I can conceive. To walk with Him, I must adopt His thought.

• When Abraham thought like God, he followed Him into the unknown. When he thought differently, he produced a child outside of God's plan, and the consequences were terrible. When he thought like God again, he passed the ultimate test: giving his son Isaac to God, earning him and his eternal descendants a blessing. God literally swore to bless him. Mind-blowing.
• When Moses thought like God, he raised his hand, the Red Sea parted, and millions were saved while their adversaries perished. When he thought differently, he disobeyed God's instructions and died without seeing the Promised Land.
• When David thought like God, he easily defeated the giant and freed his people. When he thought differently, he committed adultery, murder, and lost his child.
• When Joseph thought like God, he agreed to marry Mary and raise the child she was carrying. Previously, when he thought differently, he wanted to leave her. What a condemnation he would have lived for eternity.
• When Peter thought like God, he recognized Jesus as the Christ, the Son of the living God. When he thought differently, he wanted to prevent Him from going to the cross and was severely reprimanded.

We need to think like God to be successful in our lives and our mandate on earth.

How to have the mind of God?

God has already given us the solution. We see in Isaiah the distance that separates our functioning from His, but interestingly and extraordinarily, we learn, having arrived in the New Testament, that we now have the mind of Christ.

So, the first thing is to give your life to Jesus. From the moment we are born again, we can adopt the mind of Christ. It is a choice, and God the Holy Spirit will support and operationalize this choice.

You may have been born again, and you may be thinking that the fearful, unpleasant thoughts you had yesterday are not like Jesus' thoughts, but what God is doing is showing us the amazing possibilities available to us in Christ. In other words, it's not automatic. There's something to be done.

On New Year's Day, I preached a message about God's thoughts and our own. We learned to recognize the superiority of God's thoughts, but also how to make ourselves think like Him. Thus, we will live in the dimension of faith, power, and fulfillment that God intended for His children. Think about the examples given above and the difference God's thoughts have made in their lives.
