To what end?
By inviting us to prayer, God knows what we do not know, He knows that prayer is a pleasure, a pleasure that we are certainly unaware of, but that we will end up discovering.
Revelation
In prayer He will reveal Himself to you. Like Moses, you will find yourself open-mouthed as you gaze upon His glory passing before you. He wants to immerse you in His presence until you are immersed in Him and totally saturated.
Transformation and training
He also knows that in prayer He will fill you, teach you, train you, cleanse you, shape you, and sometimes give you spiritual surgery. He will pour His heart into you, sharpen your vision, melt your fears, and the impossible will begin to become perfectly doable.
Besides, if So many Christians lead dull and insipid lives, mainly due to the lack of sustained and regular interaction with God. It is not enough for me to speak to God on your behalf; you must deal with God yourself.
Demonstration
In prayer, He will use your mouth to speak His words to you and call into existence things that would have been inconceivable to you. He will change lives, change cities, change nations, heal, liberate, restore, because you give Him your time, your life, your mouth, and your limbs to break down opposition to His plans and impose His will on the earth.
It is the meeting of duty and pleasure. You experience the beauty of intimacy where your heart is gripped by what matters to the One you love, and then you are given the opportunity to attend to His business in prayer. And in doing so, this happy God makes you overflow with joy. You find yourself in symbiosis with the Master, and life takes on color as you attend to the Father's business.
Father's Business
Indeed, after the intense joy of finding ourselves in the presence of God the Father as his precious child, his redeemed one, his work of art in continuous transformation thanks to the patient and persistent molding of the distinguished Artist that He is, after the pleasure of contemplating the perfect beauty and immersing ourselves in the incomparable flavor of His presence, after the wonder of the revelation of the infinite power of the greatness of His Majesty, comes this other stage, that of taking care of the affairs of our Father on earth.
God has things to do on earth that go beyond you and me. He is not, thankfully, exclusively concerned with my well-being. His master plan is to bring all things under the dominion of Jesus, to bring all people to the knowledge of His Son and His salvation. He desires the kingdoms of this world to become the kingdoms of our God. And as part of this master plan, He has specific desires and plans for the people, cities, nations, churches, etc., that are to be brought into existence on earth through the involvement and prayer of His children. And this is where you and I come in. What a privilege to participate with God in changing the destiny of nations. And it is much more real than we can imagine, as this story told by Derek Prince testifies.
