I've been silent for a week, not that I haven't said anything, but I haven't written anything. Yet... what a mental turmoil - ideas, thoughts, projects jostled around. If only one could, as with computer documents, transfer everything to a hard drive for later use!
I've pondered everything—from the parable of the sower to the naive, near-universal adulation surrounding Barack Obama to racial politics in the American church—various topics have populated and crossed my mind, and in some cases, with no guarantee of return.
But my schedule was busy, and I couldn't write. Writing, moreover, was supposed to serve as a way to unclog my thoughts, a way to indefinitely store thoughts revisited many times and never expressed. Writing certainly hooked me, but it's not therapeutic; it's work.
I'm often asked how I find the time to do it all—performing, pastoring, writing. I can't find the answer, hence the occasional silence. So if you've been coming back to the blog to read the new posts, now you know what happened. I hope, however, that you've had the reflex to delve into the archives to retrieve the vast gems they contain, and what gems they are!
One of the results of my cogitations is that from now on, some of my 'photographic travel documentation' will appear periodically on the blog, in other words, photos of the banal, the simple, and... the unusual!
From Tunisia, image of the ruins of Carthage, important center of Christianity in the early church, place of birth and/or education/activity of several fathers of the church: Tertullian, Cyprian, Augustine…: many Councils of the early church took place there. Oh if these stones could speak!
