It is our responsibility to learn how to pray. When we know how to pray, not only will we have answers for our lives, but we can also help others receive answers for theirs. However, perhaps the main reason I believe we should learn to pray is that prayer honors God. The experiences we have in prayer, or should I say, the experiences we have in life that are the result of God's answer to our prayers, testify to God's goodness or greatness. I love to pray, and I love to pray for people. I believe that one of the greatest gifts God has given us is the gift of answered prayer.
Testimony of Answer to Prayers
Recently I had the joy of seeing someone I had prayed for at a meeting come back and testify about what God had done in his life. This is his story. He was invited to a Prophetic Encounter. At one point, I had a prophetic word for a person who needed healing. The word was very specific about the condition described, even though I didn't have the person's name. A man raised his hand and said the word was for him. I brought him forward and prayed for him. And there I had very specific words for him about his past and present situation. The Lord revealed the trials he was going through, and the mental, physical, and spiritual afflictions he was experiencing. I prayed and declared the restoration on him.
Shortly after, he attended a service and gave an initial testimony about the changes in his life. He had been very ill and was actually on sick leave when he first came. He could testify that God had completely healed him. Then he testified about the professional restoration and openings for his business. Afterward, he came to yet another conference where, very excited, he took the stage and shared more testimonies. His residence permits had been blocked for twenty years, and there, God allowed everything to be settled; he could now travel. Extraordinary!
And recently, he shared another testimony. A serious housing problem that had persisted for years was resolved. He had asked for prayer for his home, but circumstances did not seem optimistic. Once again, everything changed. For the first time in a decade, he had his own apartment, very pleasant. A few months earlier, he was sick, tired, physically, spiritually, materially, and he was having administrative problems. Today, life is certainly not perfect, but everything has changed radically. And all this following a short prayer.
Following this superb testimony of life changing following a short prayer, here are 4 essential points for developing a powerful prayer life.
4 essential points for developing a powerful prayer life.
The first point is the need to believe that God still intervenes in human affairs today. Many pray for psychological reasons, they just feel better. A good night's sleep will have the same impact. No, we pray for solutions and God still provides solutions. The Bible clearly states that when you ask for something God wants done, He will grant it. Jesus was clear: those who ask receive, and whatever we ask the Father in His name will be granted.

Availability to pray
The second point is to make yourself available to pray. Often when we try to make ourselves comfortable about prayer, we are told that there is really not much we can do; that a few minutes a day would be enough, and this is to avoid it being a burden for us. But the truth is that even though I only prayed a short prayer for this man and his life was changed, I had the faith for it and the power was released because I don't just spend a few minutes in prayer each day. For optimal results, we must develop our spiritual capacity. So, make yourself available to pray. We give time to everything that has value for us. If you begin to dedicate a significant amount of time to prayer, you will see a radical change in your spiritual level and in the dimension of power that is released when you pray for people.
Good disposition of heart
The next point is willingness. I believe that Christian leaders who reduce prayer to a few minutes a day do so out of a desire to 'help' people. Since it seems that the majority of people are reluctant to pray, they try to make it easier for them. But if you work on your heart to the point where you become willing and willing to pray, to the point where you want it with all your heart, you will experience a dramatic increase in prayer, the same prayer you had difficulty before. You will discover abilities in prayer that you never knew existed, and you will see time pass very quickly as the Holy Spirit literally takes you by the hand and helps you pray.

The Word of God
Another point essential, It is the Word of God. One of the simplest ways to pray and to pray accurate prayers is to pray the Word of God. We can start with the prayers of the apostle Paul. They are absolutely magnificent and it would be in our best interest to imitate him. Discover them in the epistles to the Ephesians, Colossians and Philippians and pray them. Try it for a week, continuously. They will take you to another dimension of revelation and intimacy with God.
Prayer meetings
And finally, be active in your church prayer meetings. Please consider writing down the prayer requests you make at church and taking them home. We have a powerful testimony from a young woman who experienced extraordinary breakthroughs in her family using the prayer requests we make atEchurch (Click here). It is while reviewing topics that we had taken during one of our days of prayer that the Lord put on my heart to write the book Call to Existence, Prayers and Prophetic Declarations to Transform Your Life. It covers around thirty areas of our lives, with corresponding verses and prayers. He literally takes you by the hand and helps you move forward in prayer. And then you seal that with prophetic declarations. (More info). It is therefore essential to actively participate in the prayer life of your local church. The time invested is not wasted. You demonstrate to God your commitment to His work and to prayer, and you will be amply rewarded.
