I experience a bulimia of joy. Bulimia is perhaps not the right word because joy is not strictly speaking something that we consume but something that comes from within and that we release. But at the same time, we often ask God to pour out his joy upon us. In truth, I feel overwhelmed with joy.
Let me explain, I woke up yesterday morning in a state of joy, of exultation 'tremendo' as they say in Spanish, you certainly understand. No, backtracking, I went to bed the day before already shouting with joy. Those who know me know that this is not unusual, except that I detected something deeper than usual. When I woke up, I could no longer contain myself, laughter, dancing, jumping, shouting, declarations of faith, everything, everything that allowed me to release this feeling of pure, unearned well-being.
And why all this, you might ask? A song I love in English begins with the words 'Because of who You are I give You glory' and I want to say 'Because of who You are I rejoice'. For all that He is, for all that He does, for all that I am in Him. In any case, something good is happening.
Joy is produced in us by the action of the Holy Spirit. The kingdom of God according to the Bible is characterized by righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. One of the attributes of life with God is the constancy of joy. The contemplation of God produces joy, in other words when we look at God, we speak to Him, speak of Him and we think of Him, we discover Him, in discovering Him we are amazed, amazed and overflowing with well-being. And again when God allows us to glimpse in the invisible world the things that He does and prepares, our spirit communicates a joy without natural explanation to our whole being.
Joy, enthusiasm, exuberance, I can see Jesus laughing out loud. Bruce Marchiano played the role of Jesus in one of the many film productions of the Gospels. He is my favorite 'Jesus', he laughs a lot, he hugs people, he is dark, strong, physically agile and radiates life and vitality, and what joy!
