One of the things you absolutely must do in your life is re-educate yourself about the value of God's Word. Some have heard me give this testimony. I was against the Bible before my conversion and I often attacked people who came to me to preach the gospel. I would tell them, "The Bible is a book of a thousand and one errors," and I said it with great arrogance.
And I started reading the Bible just to find things to upset them. I had a demonic mind because I was memorizing whole verses and the references. And I would tell them, oh, but 1 Peter 2:3 says this; or why does Isaiah 54:5 say this.
People were amazed. They knew I was a pagan, but they wondered how I could quote so many verses to them. It was because I was reading the Bible deliberately to contradict them. I didn't know its value.
When I was converted, I was taught that the Bible was the Word of God. I said 'amen, hallelujah' and thought I was convinced. Until one day, I was sitting at my desk in my apartment at the Nation (many good things happened in that apartment) and I was praying.
It was at this place where, for the first time in my life, I prayed for five hours. I was happy, I was happy, and I hadn't started like that. I just started praying for one or two hours and then I didn't want to stop. So I continued for another hour, and another hour. Then another hour, then another hour.
Well, one day while I was praying, I heard the voice of the Lord say to me, “I'm going to show you that my Word is true. And you know, we all have great moments in our Christian lives. That was a great moment. But thank God, the Holy Spirit had enough dominion over me at that moment to subdue me and keep me from fighting back.
And inside, I said, OK, thank You, Lord. And I meditated for a long time and said to myself, so I thought I was convinced that His word is true. In fact, I'm not that convinced. And I was sure because I told people, "Yes, but the Word of God says..." And when people said, "Yes, I don't know..." I answered, "Yes, but the Word says..." I was sure I was convinced. But no!
So, I want to urge someone today to work on the value they place on the Word of God. Don't be so sure that you know its value, because if you really knew its value, there are things that would be different in our lives. You cannot be a prophetic voice if the Word of God doesn't have supreme value in your life; because what you're going to say is what God has told you, what you've seen in that Word.
That's what you're going to say.
If His written Word has no value to you and you try to prophesy and enter into the spirit to say things, you're going to be subject to all kinds of spirits, all kinds of spirits. One time, you're going to yield to the Holy Spirit. The next time, it's going to be another spirit and you're going to enter into fornication while prophesying. ▪ We've seen this before, ▪ We've seen this before.
And little by little, the Lord began to work on me, to instill in me the awareness of the value of His Word. If you want to be a prophetic voice, you will feed yourself continuously on the Word of God, continuously, continuously…, to fill your intestines, to eat, to devour, to eat morning, noon and night.
In fact, decide that this Word will become, not a book of consultation, we do not consult the Word, we devour it.
