God's enduring love is a vast theme that runs throughout the Bible. It finds its ultimate expression in the coming of Christ and His sacrifice. But throughout the history of God's people, different situations have allowed us to appreciate the depth and persistence of God's love for humanity. The story of the prophet Hosea and his prostitute wife is one example that illustrates this love.

We find that in God's Word, the imagery of marriage recurs constantly to illustrate the relationship between God and His people. We will note that when God's people are disobedient and rebel, they are often accused of committing adultery. Likewise, the idolatry of the people is called adultery.
