God is not a beggar who must beg for our attention and service. Our problem is that we do not realize how much we owe Him; on the contrary, we are consumed by the feeling that something is owed to us. We are convinced that everything should be just the way it should be for us; we are the heroes of our own story. But we live in God's story, and it is rather Him who should be the one to arrange everything. And since we do not know this, having become Christians, we devote ourselves to singing rather than worship, to dancing rather than praise.
We need to rediscover, or perhaps discover, the meaning of the greatness of the gospel and all that God is and has done for us undeserving beings. I pray that God will give me, as a servant, the ability to communicate fully and the anointing to engrave in hearts the awareness of God's extraordinary goodness to us and the debt we owe to Him. And only when this awareness takes root in our hearts can we become not mere singers, but worshippers, not dancers, but worshippers, not volunteers, but servants, and this for the supreme glory of our God.
Shalom!
