According to UNICEF, 1.1 billion people worldwide do not have access to safe drinking water, 4,000 children die every day due to lack of drinking water, In Africa, 43% of children drink unsafe water, one in five children dies before the age of 5.
Along with governments, associations are trying to address this problem by digging drinking water wells so that entire communities can have access to clean water. This improves health, and children who previously had to do water fetching chores are returning to school.
