MEDITATION
Have you ever looked at someone, in the street or even in church, and thought to yourself: «"Thank God, I don't live like that."» ?
Without saying it out loud, we sometimes feel better. We deplore the faults of others. Some members of our families, we "commend to God" because, we think, they are exaggerating... which would imply that we, ourselves, are doing well.
Sometimes we hesitate to share the Gospel with someone because they seem to be doing well, succeeding in life, perhaps even better than we are. We don't see their need for God. But in God's plan, things are quite different.
Romans 3:23 exposes these inner thoughts and refutes them unequivocally. This verse is not an isolated warning. It is the final verdict of a long spiritual process.
In Romans 1, Paul describes the godless person who rejects the truth, exchanges the Creator's glory for idols, and sinks into corruption. In Romans 2, he addresses the religious and moral person, the one who knows the law and judges others, but who is equally guilty before God. Then Paul concludes unambiguously: «"There is no one who is just, not even one."», so that «"Let every mouth be silenced and let the whole world be found guilty before God."».
Who is affected? The answer is inescapable:
«"All have sinned."»
Not just those whose failings are visible. Not just those whose sin is shocking. All of them, without exception. Our most agreeable best friend. Our respected teacher. The religious man as well as the rebellious man.
The Greek word plants encompasses all of humanity in the same state of guilt. Before God, there is no no moral hierarchy capable of saving.
What exactly is it?
Sin is not simply a human weakness. Humanity does not appear before God as a group of failing individuals, but as one humanity. already found guilty. Sin is a rebellion against God, a profound condition, a real break with Him.
What are the consequences?
Paul expresses them with terrifying restraint: «"deprived of the glory of God"».
The word hustereō It means being lacking, deficient, falling below what was required. What humanity has lost is not a spiritual luxury, but the essential. The glory of God is humanity's normal environment.
To be deprived of this glory is to live separated from God's presence, cut off from His life, unable to reflect His image. A person may succeed, build, and impress, but spiritually, they live below their true purpose.
The gravity of sin is measured not only by what it does, but by what it takes away: communion with God, spiritual life, glory. If all have sinned, then no one can stand confidently before God apart from grace. If all are deprived of glory, then every human being without Christ finds themselves in a state of real, present, and perilous loss.
May this truth touch our hearts. May it close off all comparisons. And may it prevent us from remaining silent.

PRAYER
Lord, open my eyes to the true gravity of sin. Deliver me from all spiritual lightness. Grant me Your vision of the condition of those deprived of Your glory.
Father, I confess that I have sometimes looked upon the lost with judgment rather than compassion. Forgive me. Remind me today that I was just like them, deprived of your glory, unable to save myself. May this truth produce in me profound humility and genuine compassion. During this fast, break every sense of spiritual superiority within me. In Jesus' name, amen.
