Yeast – Tuesday and Wednesday (prayer 5 to 6)

When we did the Daniel Fast at the beginning of the year, I scoured recipe sites to find a way to make bread without yeast. Finally, I gave it a try (with whole wheat flour mixed with corn flour), but the result ended up in the trash. This little sachet of yeast was working miracles and I didn't realize it.

As we read the Gospel of Matthew, you have probably been struck, as I was, by the parables of the kingdom. Remember the parable where Jesus compares the kingdom of God to yeast. A woman is baking bread and she puts a tiny bit of yeast into the dough, and the yeast takes over and leavens the whole dough. (Matthew 13:34) He is also compared to the mustard seed which is the smallest of seeds but when it has grown it becomes a tree where birds come to perch.

So the kingdom of God by nature, while beginning very small, is meant to grow within us, and eventually fill the whole place and transform us. So we must cooperate with God by praying for ourselves and especially for those who come to Christ so that they may grow spiritually, and that the life of God may fill them completely.

So on Tuesday and Wednesday we will pray for our brothers and sisters who are young in the faith.

Pray
that the seed of the word of God may grow in them
that God takes His full place in their lives
that they become truly passionate about God
that they become soul winners and
that they may have longevity in the kingdom of God
