Queen of Sheba

1 Kings 10

The Visit of the Queen of Sheba

1 The Queen of Sheba[has] heard about the reputation Solomon had gained through the Lord. So she came to test his wisdom by asking him difficult questions[b]. 2 She arrived in Jerusalem with a large entourage and camels laden with spices, perfumes, a great deal of gold, and precious stones. She stood before Solomon and spoke to him about everything that was on her mind. 3 Solomon explained to her everything she asked; nothing was too difficult for him, there was no subject on which he could not give her an answer. 4 The Queen of Sheba saw how wise Solomon was, and the palace he had built, 5 the food on his table, the lodging of his servants, the organization of their service, their attire, those who served food and drink, and the *burnt offerings he offered in the Temple of the Lord. She lost her breath.

And in English:

1 Ki 10:1-5(1) Now when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the LORD, she came to test him with hard questions. (2) She came to Jerusalem with a very great retinue, with camels bearing spices and very much gold and precious stones. And when she came to Solomon, she told him all that was on her mind. (3) And Solomon answered all his questions; there was nothing hidden from the king that he could not explain to her. (4) And when the queen of Sheba had seen all the wisdom of Solomon, the house that he had built, (5) the food of his table, the seating of his officials, and the attendance of his servants, their clothing, his cupbearers, and his burnt offerings that he offered at the house of the LORD, there was no more breath in her.
