Wow! Immediate impressions, the service this morning – wonderful. Grace, Grace, Grace, on the little we offer Him, what a presence of God and what freedom of the Spirit. I wish I could get into God's 'head' and dissect it. What makes Him come to people like us who don't look like much and make Himself so present? I know people who came and looked down on us, young church, well, wrong note, well, a woman pastor, how awful, young too (yes I know I don't look over forty), well well! But God!!!!!!!!!
Some wonder why I'm crazy about Him, because He is and has always been great to me; He has never underestimated me, despised me, or abandoned me. And at Abba House He is not discreet about His presence. That's why I am willing to follow Him, everywhere, and in everything, no matter what anyone says. Pastors are often tempted to follow people for fear that they will get angry and not come back, at the cost of displeasing God.
I can't. David cried out to God, 'Do not cast me away from your presence, do not take your Holy Spirit from me.' I can live without all of them, but not without God, not with the feeling of having displeased Him. So when someone hugged me tight today to thank me for obeying God's call and thanking me for my courage, I said to myself, no, I don't deserve it, it would have broken my heart to say no to Him. And of course it costs me, but it is an honor to be in His service. I would not have wanted to live in comfort without my life counting for something in the kingdom of God. And besides, He did not fail, He did not wait for crowds to welcome Him before coming, He was there from the first day, and He still is.
Wow!
