Ah, I can't hold back any longer; yesterday at midnight, when I got home, I had a mad desire to sit down in front of my computer and start writing. But the voice of wisdom finally prevailed and I chose to embrace the comfort of my bed with a glass of warm soy milk and a piece of banana bread, I say bread because cake (at midnight) sounds truly decadent. This morning, I missed the cake; it would have been so good with my strong English tea sweetened with milk.
But this isn't a bread and butter article, so let's get back to the point. Why such a desire to write at midnight? Because I was coming back from our Friday night prayer meeting and I was excited. Wow! What an extraordinary God! Have you ever been surprised that God allows us to speak to Him, at any time? As soon as we wish, we have an audience with the Eternal, the God of all creation. He doesn't force us to wait, to request an appointment well in advance, to take a ticket and wait our turn, his site is never under maintenance, He is never unreachable.
It's that God is surprisingly accessible. Moreover, Jesus had committed himself to this by saying that when two or three people meet in His name, they will be able to count on His presence. And as if to prove it, the Holy Spirit, God on earth, does not fail to show up. It's so good. Last night, another superb meeting. I left work late, tired, and arrived at the prayer meeting late; but two hours later, I left the prayer meeting as if walking on air, refreshed.
And this group that prays on Friday night is absolutely wonderful. I celebrate all of you my friends, together we will do good things, touch, bless a multitude and be ourselves constantly transformed into the image of Christ. I have a dream, to be so much like Jesus that we would be confused. Evil tongues would say, 'well, she's far from it,' so be it; but what they don't know is that I come from far away, and it's not over; I intend to be close to Him so that what He is continues to rub off on me.
We prayed, as usual, with passion, enthusiasm, faith and strength. We prayed, among other things, for the church, prayed for each other individually, prayed for the new lovers of Jesus, that they would be firm in their faith and that they would know God in a real and personal way, we prayed for our country, we asked to be God's agents and intermediaries to connect men to Him; we prayed... humbly, joyfully, 'victoriously'.
At the end, we celebrated the greatness of God by singing a song that proclaimed the oneness of God and recited some of His names – Adonai, Jehovah-Jireh, Jehovah-Rophi El Shaddai, El Olam, all appellations that each demonstrate a portion of the personality of a God who is in reality INDESCRIPTIBLE. We ended by launching a cry, as the psalms ask, to the Eternal, with cries of joy. The place was suitable, we had purposely sought a well-soundproofed place to be able to express ourselves freely and loudly.
Once again, to the Friday night band I say this, you are the salt of the earth. I am not flattering you, I am quoting Jesus, and I add, you make my job as a leader enjoyable. At Abba House we will continue to pray wholeheartedly, to put ourselves at God's disposal to bring into existence the desires of His heart because prayer is not pushing, obliging or forcing God to do what He does not wish to do; it is cooperating with God so that He can do what He has on His heart. And He has many things on His heart and good things. Shalom!
