Delighted, I am delighted. Today we finish the second Gospel, that of Mark, and tomorrow we begin the Gospel of Luke, the historian. As we move from one Gospel to the next, let us keep in mind that this is the same story told by four different people with slightly different perspectives. So these events didn't happen four times, but only once. Some will read this and wonder who she thinks we are, but it's worth saying.
Why? Because nowadays, even in Judeo-Christian countries, biblical knowledge is being lost. At first, I made the mistake of telling people to "read the Gospel of John, Mark, Luke, etc." until I realized they weren't following me. I learned to give more details and sometimes even open the Bible and put a marker on the corresponding page.
Michael Jr., an African-American Christian comedian, tells TBN about his conversion. Coming off stage, he had just made a splash, his manager invited him to church for Sunday's service. He didn't understand a thing, he said to himself, "Did he see what just happened?" Quite surprised to be invited to church, after all, he's not sick, he has nothing, everything is fine, he ends up accepting anyway.
There come normal people, a good sermon without excessive emotionalism or extravagance. We make the call to salvation, he is tempted but still decides to read the book first before committing himself. He goes through the Bible, arriving at Matthew he discovers for the first time at the age of 27 that Jesus died for him, he reads Mark, and here Jesus dies a second time, he is astonished, then it is Luke, after that it is John, and He dies again. Michael Jr. says to himself but when will he learn, what is happening? He finishes the Bible, the following Sunday he runs to the altar during the announcements to give his life to Jesus.
